1/29-2/2 Week in Review

Hello Friends,

The word of the week:“Will Power”

This week, as we basked in the inspiring energy of "will power," we also took a moment to acknowledge and celebrate Black History Month. This month is a time to honor the remarkable will power demonstrated by countless activists who played pivotal roles in the Civil Rights Movement. Their unwavering commitment to justice and equality, despite facing immense adversity, has left an indelible mark on history.

On Tuesday and Wednesday, we were delighted to welcome Anna-stesia Saunders, a talented videographer and documentarian, to capture the essence of Place Corps. Anna-stesia's creative expertise adds a unique perspective to our community narrative, reminding us of the diversity and strength within our shared experiences. Stay tuned for an engaging visual journey that not only encapsulates the spirit of our community but also pays homage to the resilience and will power of those who have paved the way.

Our monthly Table Talk featured the incredible Regina East, whose journey from high school activism to roles in facilitation, social work, and the arts left us in awe. Regina shared their story of will power driving passion for social justice, inspiring us to channel our own determination into meaningful pursuits. Following Regina's talk, we engaged in a painting workshop, using art as a form of expression and unity.

Jen Mayer from Fully Funded led an insightful workshop on financial literacy, guiding us on cultivating strong will power when it comes to spending. The discussion delved into practical strategies for managing credit card debt and building savings, sparking valuable conversations on financial well-being.

At the Hudson River Maritime Museum, our exploration of the environmental impact on the Hudson River took on a deeper meaning during Black History Month. We reflected on the will power of activists like Pete Seeger, who dreamed of a pristine Hudson River, and recognized the intersection of environmental impact and social justice. It serves as a poignant reminder to hold onto the will power that envisions a cleaner and more equitable future.

As we navigate the intricacies of our diverse roles within Place Corps, let's also honor the will power of those who have paved the way for justice and equality. Our strength lies not only in skills and knowledge but also in the unwavering will power that fuels our collective journey. Embrace the challenges, celebrate the victories, and keep showing up – for it's in the persistent pursuit of our goals that we truly shine.

Wishing you a week filled with determination, creativity, and financial empowerment!

Have a good weekend,
Place Corps Team
