9/9-9/13 Week in Review

Hello Friends,

Word of the week: Praxis

This week, we officially launched our first full week of Kingston programming, and it was an exciting start! We were thrilled to introduce a weekly praxis with our curriculum partners. Two key members of our team were introduced: Lissy Darnell, our Regenerative Home-Economics Steward, and Aurora Brush, our Creative Praxis & Media Steward. Their expertise in sustainable culinary practices and the integration of art and media promise to deepen our learning experiences throughout the year.

On Wednesday, we visited the Hudson River Maritime Museum, where we explored the woodshop, Rondout Lighthouse and boarded the Solaris, a solar-powered boat. As we cruised the river, we reflected on our journey and envisioned the work ahead as we embrace sustainability and creativity in practice.

We also kicked off our Table Talk series, where we invite community members to share their stories with our fellows monthly. This week, we welcomed Lenny Bass —a music video director, filmmaker, restorative justice advocate, yoga teacher, DJ, and Bard student—as our first guest. Lenny shared his life journey, wowing our fellows with stories about the superstar musicians he’s worked with and his inspiring transition into restorative justice work. It was an incredible and motivating session.

Lenny will also lead a yoga workshop for the next two weeks, offering grounding practices to support the fellows’ physical and mental well-being. You can listen to his podcast with Radio Kingston here

This week was about connection—learning from Lissy, Aurora, and Lenny, and exploring how their roles will enrich our shared journey. Their presence sparked conversations about our word of the week, praxis—transforming knowledge into action to build a more regenerative and creative community.

We encourage you to explore your own daily praxis and reflect on its impact!

Have a good weekend,
