The green transition is the transition to sustainable energy sources and systems. This means that we will be using different resources, new technology, and new infrastructure to run our world, produce our goods, power our homes, and much more. This will mean the creation of new systems, new products, new industries and new jobs. This will also mean that certain industries will be superseded by the green alternatives.

Eventually green industry alternatives will become more common than their predecessors, and then they won’t be alternatives any more. An example of this is the electric car, although only some vehicles on the road are electric right now, over the next ten years electric cars will become the majority of cars on the road. Over this time the auto industry will be transitioning its manufacturing from traditional gas powered vehicles to electric ones.

At the same time that automation will see many jobs disrupted and altered, the green industry will introduce many new jobs into the labor market.

The Green Transition in Ulster County:

Ulster County’s Green New Deal: the purpose of this initiative is to stabilize the climate and regenerate natural resources in the region. The technique for doing this is to develop a green economy, meaning businesses, infrastructure, and commercial enterprises which function within a green framework, this means replacing non-renewable energy with renewable alternative, replacing heating and cooling system in homes with energy efficient models, emphasizing locally grown produce and goods in the marketplace, and much more. This was announced on earth day of 2021.

UGREEN = Ulster Green Economy Network:
