12/16-12/19 Week in Review
Hello Friends,
Word of the week: Celebration
We wrapped up the last week of 2024 together before heading off to winter break, ending the week with our Annual Winter Expo.
This week, we were deeply engaged as Nina from Sky High Farms joined Lissy to lead a group lesson on food sovereignty and food justice. The fellows delved into critical conversations about food scarcity and equity. We explored the contrasts for some folks between holiday food surpluses for some and scarcity for others. The session was enlightening and fostered a meaningful dialogue about these pressing issues.
The fellows have been working with Aurora to complete their zines, and we were thrilled to showcase the finished pieces. Each zine reflects the fellows' unique styles and artistic talents, coming together to form a beautiful collaborative project. The dedication and creativity poured into this work were evident, making the showcase a true highlight of the week.
Our Winter Expo was a tremendous success! The event featured: raffle item's, button making, photo booth and delicious snacks. We received generous donations from Black Eyed Suzie's, CPW and We Got the Juice. The fellows also delivered a brief presentation, offering a glimpse into their daily experiences in the program. It was a wonderful way to reflect on and celebrate their growth and achievements over the year. The energy and camaraderie during the expo made it a perfect send-off before the two-week winter break.
As we step into the new year, we hope you continue celebrating and look forward to sharing more updates and milestones in 2025. Happy New Year!
Have a good weekend,
