April Moon Brings Joyful News 🌀
Hi! We want to share a few fun facts:
2018--we began Place Corps in conversation with Kingston, NY youth asking them what they needed next in their lives to be and feel successful. We ran a pilot program inspired by their answers.
2020--we returned to Kingston, NY, and created a youth design team to help us design a Place Corp program specifically for Kingston area youth.
2022--we are launching the Kingston Service Fellowship Gap Year program—designed for and with Kingston youth!
Last week we concluded 6 workshops at Kingston high school where we workshopped what they needed to be and feel successful now. Below are the top Q&A responses from over 💯 Kingston, NY seniors regarding what they said they need to be and feel successful.
❤️ Learning through doing with mentorship
❤️ Creating and achieving goals
❤️ Developing life plans
❤️ Learning how to navigate finances
❤️ Building self-discipline
❤️ Navigating real-life challenges
❤️ Finding purposeful work that gives back
❤️ Gaining new skills
❤️ Practicing: patience, perseverance, confidence, open-mindedness, rest, calm, focused attention, courageous action, and healthy habits
Place Corps proudly rises to meet these needs (and more!) through our community-based learning post-high school program.
Applications for the Kingston Service Fellowship are open and we would love for you to share this opportunity far and wide within the Hudson Valley, as we are excited to reach community members who would like to collaborate, partner, or apply as fellows to do this work of meeting the future together.
Our Kingston Fellowship begins August 2022, and priority applications are open through April 15th.
And here's a direct link to the application!
