Hello Friends,

This has been a big month, welcome to the world Know, Love, Serve, Inc!  With the celebration and invitation of the full moon, we received notice that the organization we have been building to support our Place Corps programs and other educational initiatives has received recognition from the federal government as a 501c3 nonprofit.

Bringing the idea of Place Corps into reality, it became evident that Place Corps has a robust life that expands past the constraints of one place and is needed in many places. We recognized the need for infrastructure to support our fullest vision. And so, we created Know, Love, Serve, Inc. As a501c3 nonprofit Know, Love, Serve, Inc. will continue to address the problem of miseducation by designing and developing transformational place-specific programs that equip future leaders, designers, and changemakers to cultivate a calling to know, love, and serve our places. We see the Place Corps model and curriculum being offered in many places helping individuals build sustainable livelihoods while serving their places.

As an organization, we see our future work carrying forth the energy of our mission, to know, love, and serve as our nonprofit names. We invite you into this journey through supporting the next generation of leaders and changemakers. Join the journey now

This month, our very own Dawn Breeze, co-founder and managing director, was invited to speak on the Good Work Hour hosted by Good Work Institute on Kingston Radio about imagination, belief, and of course Place Corps. If you missed the show, you can catch the full recording here. Fellow Place Corps co-founder Matthew Stinchcomb announced his latest projects this week as well. Continuing our development of a Place Corps program designed specifically for Kingston, NY, we were in the field volunteering and visiting places we love around Kingston. We visited the Farmers Market and Art Port where we met with our past design interns and had an impromptu rendezvous with past cohort member and new Kingston resident Jordan Williams. The Place Corps team helped the YMCA Farm project in their playground build and Deer Creek Herbs. We also had the opportunity to join up with The Hudson Valley Prosperity Network, a group of self-organized citizens for positive change, and tour new community development projects in the city of Poughkeepsie that are designed and being built for the greatest common good. It is wonderful to see heart led projects that are proactive in the race against the pitfalls of gentrification that are being stewarded and supported with community stakeholders and the county.

A full month and a full moon. We are so grateful for the return of lushness, for our gardens to be soaking up the sun, and for all the good work growing around us in our places here in the Hudson Valley.

Warmly,

The Place Corps Team
