MONEY TALK: Cost & Learning Grants
-
Place Corps utilizes an equitable tiered model to ensure that 100% of accepted applicants are able to attend without financial barriers.
Place Corps is based on a model of trust and reciprocity. We don’t determine what participants contribute financially, we empower and entrust our participants and their families with that decision. We recognize that one price does not fit all.
For example, if a family makes less than $100,000/year they will not be expected to pay tuition. Some fellows are not expected to pay tuition based on their income.

-
Each Kingston Fellow can receive up to $3,000 per trimester in fellowship learning grants. This grant is a reflection o fellows’ full participation and commitment to the program and supports financial literacy skills and equips fellows with money to practice real life skills like budgeting, saving, and paying bills.

-
The Kingston Fellowship includes a monthly stipend as both a learning tool and in acknowledgment of financial barriers that might limit program participation.
Place Corps defines this monthly stipend as a “materials cost” used in our Financial Literacy curriculum. Financial literacy is often taught like a drawing class where students learn about the pen and paper needed to draw, but are not supplied with those materials to practice. Place Corps offers the materials needed to make financial education real!
