LUKE VAN HORN AND THE QUEST FOR A FLAME: PART ONE
I find friction fire is frequently frustrating.
Hand drill: difficult
Bow drill: slightly less grueling
Haikus: too easy
This week I desire to create a fire so my teeth and jaw I set,
I rub sticks together and it feels like forever, but smoke is all I get
The combo seems fine: cedar and pine, a fire I’ll make for sure
To and fro, the bow does go, but “SNAP!” the string’s no more
Well I want to cry, and “darn” says I, this bow drill is no joke
But someday soon, by the next full moon, a fire I’ll have to stoke
Yes someday soon, by the next full moon, a fire I’ll have to stoke
